Global Business Mobility Visa

UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) started the Global Business Mobility scheme in April 2022, with five new visas to help foreign businesses grow in the UK. Here’s a breakdown of one of the visas:

Senior or Specialist Worker Visa:

• Replaces the former Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) Visa.
• Aimed at overseas senior managers or employees with special skills to work in a UK branch or subsidiary of their employer.
  
• Applicants must be sponsored by their employer, hold a Certificate of Sponsorship, have a job from the eligible occupations list, and earn at least £42,000 per year.
• Visa holders can stay in the UK for up to 5 years, with an option to extend if earning £73,900 or more per year. However, this visa doesn’t lead to settlement, but holders can switch to a different visa type that qualifies for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

Graduate Trainee Visa:

• Replaces the previous Intra-Company Transfer Graduate Visa.
• Similar to the Senior or Specialist Worker Visa but tailored for employees on a graduate training programme.
• Applicants need sponsorship for an eligible job, must have worked for their sponsor outside the UK for at least 3 months, hold a valid Certificate of Sponsorship, and earn a minimum salary of £23,100 per year.

UK Expansion Worker Visa:

• Replaces the Sole Representative of an Overseas Business Visa UK.
• Designed for overseas businesses wanting to send a senior manager to the UK to establish a business presence.
• Applicants need a Certificate of Sponsorship, must have worked for their employer outside the UK (usually for 12 months), have an eligible job, and receive £42,400 per year or the ‘going rate’ for their occupation.
• Initial stay is up to 12 months, extendable to a maximum of 2 years. This visa doesn’t provide a route to settlement.

Secondment Worker Visa:

• Enables overseas workers to be transferred by their employer to work on a high-value contract with a UK business.
• Applicants must have worked for an overseas business with a high-value contract with a UK licensed sponsor for 1 year or more, have a valid Certificate of Sponsorship, and have a job on the list of eligible occupations.
• Visa holders can stay for up to 12 months and extend their stay to a maximum of 2 years. This visa doesn’t provide a route to settlement.

Service Supplier Visa:

• Allows foreign employees and self-employed individuals to come to the UK to provide services to a UK company as part of a contract.
• Applicants must work for a foreign business or be a self-employed service provider, provide services under a contract as part of an international trade agreement in the UK (the UK business must be a licensed sponsor), have an eligible job and necessary qualifications and professional experience, and a valid Certificate of Sponsorship.
• Visa holders can stay for up to 6 or 12 months, depending on the trade agreement. This visa doesn’t provide a route to settlement.
